Health care refers to the maintenance or improvement of human health by preventing, diagnosing, treating, curing, and recovering from diseases, illnesses, injuries, and other physical and mental impairments. It includes a variety of activities and services to ensure the physical and mental well-being of people. Health care includes: Disease prevention: Preventing the spread of diseases by identifying the causes of diseases, such as vaccination programs, health education, and awareness programs. Diagnosis: Conducting various tests to detect diseases in the early stages, such as blood tests, ultrasound, X-rays, etc. Treatment: Providing necessary treatment to recover a sick person, such as medication, therapy, and surgery. Rehabilitation: Conducting rehabilitation programs to return a person affected by a disease or injury to a normal life, such as physiotherapy. Health education: Making people aware of healthy living, such as teaching them about proper diet, exercise, and taking care of mental health. Healthcare is provided at various levels, including: Primary Healthcare: This service is provided through community clinics, union health and family welfare centers, and upazila health complexes. Secondary Healthcare: District hospitals and maternal and child welfare centers are examples of this level of healthcare. Tertiary Healthcare: Medical college hospitals and specialized hospitals are associated with this level of healthcare. Both the public and private sectors play an important role in providing healthcare.
